Where Does It Hurt?

Inspired by a visit to Diego Rivera and Frida Khalo’s house in Mexico City and a particularly sickening heartbreak, I began in January building this 8-foot tall, aching creature out of chicken wire and papier mache. Part of the process included writing out the words that were amplifying my own pain and pasting them to my sickly creature. The humidity of the New Orleans air is continuously causing this creature’s sickly slump to become more and more exaggerated.

The Haircut

This is a collaborative piece between myself and a poet. The poetry bit is in progress.
